Welcome to Another School Year

I want to welcome everyone back to a new school year. Staff has been in all week getting ready and are excited to get underway. This, like all years, promises to be an exciting. We are very pleased to be a part of the early adoptor schools in the province that a leadership role with the adoption of 21st Century Learning. As part of this all students in grades 7 and 8 will receive their own individual netbook to utilize both at home and at school. Technology will continue to be integrated as part of the learning process and as appropriate.

All students will be returning to school on Tuesday, September 7. Our morning program will begin on Wednesday. on Tuesday morning we would like all our grade six students to enter the school through the main entrance and into the gymnasium. They will be the first to see our new gym floor! There teachers will be there to meet and greet them. Parents are welcome to accompany their child if they wish.

Allergy Alert - We have students with severe alleries to peanuts, fish and or seafood. Any minimal contact with the product and its derivatives may cause anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction) and unconsciousness. In such a case, the allergy may even cause the student’s death.

We are required to apply practices that reduce the possibility of exposing the students to these substances that can provoke a severe allergic reaction. Our personnel has been informed of the situation and notified of appropriate measures in case a student suffers an anaphylactic shock.

We ask your co-operation in order to reduce the risk for those students who are allergic to: peanuts, nuts, fish, seafood and cinnamon. We ask that you insist that your child(ren) will wash their hands before leaving for school, because the slightest residue of allergen may trigger an unfortunate incident to a severely allergic classmate. This is a situation that requires the attention of all. We are requesting your help by asking that you not send any products containing peanuts, nuts, fish and/or seafood and cinnamon to school.

Once again, Cashless Schools is available at Devon Middle School" for all students. This is the preferred method of payment for all fees (student fees, field trips, sport fees etc.)

School Photos will be taken on Friday, September 9.

Any child wishing to ride their bikle to school is required to wear a helmet and bring a bkie lock. We no longer can store bikes inside the school.

Looking forward to seeing all staff and students on Tuesday moring.
