From November 15th - 19th, Devon Middle School students took part in Bullying Awareness week. The DMS Beyond the Hurt committee members, a Red Cross initiative to prevent bullying, led the school in this very worthwhile initiative. Students began with daily messages on the announcements regarding bullying awareness; as well, they created pledges and circulated to all the classrooms to inform students on Bullying Awareness week and have them support this by signing the ‘Stand up to Bullying’ pledge.
In addition to this, students sold over 300 DMS ‘Stand up to Bullying’ pink and blue T-shirts throughout each noon hour this week. A Special thank you to these students; Andrew Norrad, Daniel Dunphy, Mark Porter, Miradi Gashi, Alysha stokes, Dalton Tucker, Syndey Rickard, Carlee Mills, Payton Urquhart, Ben Palmer. As well, a much deserved thank you to the entire DMS staff and student body for supporting Bullying Awareness week. To cap off the week the school held a “sock hop” followed by a photo shoot where all 300 students and staff who purchased the bullying awareness t-shirts, posed for a group shot in front of the school!
